Glasgow Fair Monday: There will be no 8.15am Mass on Monday 18th July.
Charismatic Prayer Group: meets in the Cathedral on Wednesdays at 6pm.
Weekly Holy Hour for Vocations to the Priesthood on Fridays from 4-5pm.
Helping in the Liturgy. We are always looking for people willing to minster at Mass
as readers, servers, passkeepers, on Sundays or weekdays. Get in touch with the
Cathedral Office, speak to one of the priests or approach one of our current
minsters for information. The choir will resume rehearsals after the holiday period.
Visitors next week. 1. A group from Portugal will join us at next Sunday’s 10am
Mass. 2. A group from Spain will celebrate their own Mass next Sunday at 6.30pm.
ANNUAL BUS RUN
Saturday, 13 August, 9.30am. This year our trip will take us to Rosslyn Chapel,
where, after an introductory talk, we will have time to explore this iconic heritage
site and ancient place of worship. Then follows a two course lunch in the outskirts
of Edinburgh and onward for some leisurely time in Musselburgh and an
opportunity for a wee stroll along the promenade or on the beach, afternoon
coffee, ice cream and, of course, for those who wish, a bit of shopping. If you are
interested please fill in a booking form (available in the stall area) and hand this into
the stall when staffed, or the Sacristy, with a £10 deposit The cost (including bus,
lunch and entrance to Rosslyn Chapel) will be £32.
Pilgrimage to the Holy Land, 19-27 September 2016 celebrating the 200th
anniversary of the Cathedral and the Jubilee Year of Mercy. Price £1095 includes
flights from Edinburgh to Tel Aviv, half-board accommodation in Nazareth and
Bethlehem, 5 lunches, guide, coach transfers, entrance fees. Under the spiritual
leadership of Mgr Christopher McElroy, organised by Alex Mosson, former Lord
Provost of Glasgow, and operated by Special Pilgrimages Ltd (ATOL protected). For

This month’s Pro-Life Mass is on Wednesday 20th July in Blessed John Duns Scotus,
270 Ballater St, Gorbals G5 0YT. There will be Adoration at 6pm, followed by Rosary
at 7pm and Mass at 7.30pm, with tea and biscuits afterwards. The celebrant will be
Fr Thaddeus Umaru.
FEAST OF ST MARY MAGDALENE, 22 JULY
Pope Francis has authorised that the liturgical celebration of St Mary Magdalene be
raised from the rank of Memorial to that of Feast. Raising her liturgical profile is a
recognition of how the biblical figure of Mary Magdalene embodies some of the
Church's major current emphases: the promotion of the dignity of women, the need
to proclaim the Good News of the Resurrection, and divine mercy.
Concert by the Palestine Youth Orchestra (PYO) in Glasgow Royal Concert Hall on
Tues 26th July at 7.30pm. Tel 0141 353 8000. Part of the 32nd International Society
for Music Education conference. See Notice Board.
St Paul’s Book Shop is moving in mid August to 36 St Enoch Square. See Notice
Board.
AGAP is taking two productions to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. “The Margaret
Sinclair Story” will be performed from Saturday 6th until Friday 12th August at
7.45pm, with two additional matinee performances at 3pm on Tuesday 9th and
Thursday 11th August. “Among Women” will be performed at 7.45pm on Saturday
13th and Sunday 14th August. Both productions take place at St Patrick’s Church,
High Street. Tickets £6 (£5 unwaged) from the Fringe Box Office: 0131 226 0000 or
www.edfringe.com.
Coach transport has been arranged for the matinee performance of “The Margaret
Sinclair Story” on Tuesday 9th August at 3pm. Cost £12 (includes show ticket and
return bus from St Bride’s Church, East Kilbride or George Square, Glasgow). Places
